Sugar Body Scrub Recipes

May 14th, 2010

These sugar body scrub recipes are simple, cheap and make your skin feel just wonderful. I admit to being skeptical about the products myself until trying a tub of homemade brown sugar scrub a friend made me for Christmas. I’m a low-maintenance person. I don’t have time to scrub. By the end of the jar, I was begging her for more.

Basic Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe

  • 2 cups brown sugar (dark or golden)
  • 1/2 cup of regular olive oil (or less or more as needed for desired texture)
  • Essential oil or drop of vanilla for scent, if desired

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, soften and separate the brown sugar with a fork, removing all lumps.
  2. Slowly drizzle olive oil over the sugar, mixing as you go, until you achieve a pleasant, moist, “scrubby” texture.
  3. Add a drop or two of scent, if desired.
  4. Decant your scrub into a jar – or for easy access, try a Tupperware container.

Note: This scrub leaves your shower floor rather slippery. Be careful!

Scrub will stay pleasant and useful for weeks or maybe even months, but it will not last that long!

Sugar Body Scrubs Make Great Gifts

If I hadn’t received this as a gift, I wouldn’t know how wonderful it is. And with retail prices upwards of $20 and $30 for something you can make for literally, less than a dollar, why not share some with your girls?

Package your scrub in a pretty jar and tie a ribbon around it.

Throw in the sugar scrub recipe if you want to give a gift that keeps on giving.
